Pimm’s Platinum Jubilee!

Summer is almost here and this year it’s more special than ever for us in the UK. It’s our Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, and Pimm’s have launched a special commemorative bottle with which to toast the occasion.

The celebratory bottle contains iconic original Pimm’s No.1 Cup. It is perfect for this quintessentially British holiday. It is a gin-based preparation of herbal botanicals, caramelised orange and warm spices. And it dates back to 1840 when it was first blended by James Pimm as an aid to digestion. It was served at Queen Victoria’s lunches and its popularity spread around the Empire.

Jubilee Pimm’s Spritz is the perfect cocktail for this special weekend and here is the recipe.

Ingredients:

50ml Pimm’s
2 teaspoons of strawberry jam
4-5 basil leaves
Juice of half a lemon (about 15ml)
Soda water
1 strawberry for garnish

Method:

Add all the ingredients (other than soda water) to a shaker. Use a spoon to stir and combine the contents, then fill with ice and give it a strong shake

Strain into a wine glass full of ice and top with soda

Garnish with a strawberry and basil leaf
