If you are gathering around the bonfire for 5th November, make it an evening to remember with these two martinis from Holy Grass Vodka.
The Toffee Appletini and the Pumpkin Spiced Espresso Martini both benefit from this award-winning vodka, made by Dunnet Bay Distillers in the UK mainland’s most northerly distillery. This eco-friendly company forages for many of its botanicals, including Holy Grass which lends it name and distinctive taste notes to the spirit.
The Toffee Appletini
This cocktail has all the flavours of a toffee apple. The Frangelico adds an optional nutty element. The bottles of caramel syrup made for flavouring coffee work perfectly for this recipe.
- 50ml Holy Grass vodka
- 10ml caramel syrup
- 50ml good apple juice
- 10ml Frangelico hazelnut liqueur
Pour all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake well. Strain into a chilled
martini glass. Garnish with an apple slice and enjoy with a sparkler.
The Pumpkin Espresso Martini
This delicious seasonal cocktail is a showcase for Holy Grass Coffee Vodka. Either make your own spiced pumpkin syrup (a recipe is below) but if you’re short of time, you can buy it online. The leftover syrup can be chilled in a sterilised jar and used in cups of coffee, and also drizzled over ice cream or pancakes.
- 50ml Holy Grass Coffee Vodka
- 20ml Kahlua
- 25ml pumpkin spice syrup (or more to taste)
- 50ml strong espresso coffee
Shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a twist of orange peel.
For the pumpkin syrup, if using homemade syrup:
- 200g golden caster sugar
- 50g light brown soft sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp ground cloves
- 2 tsp ground ginger
- grating of nutmeg
- 200g canned pumpkin purée
- 125 ml water
Place all the ingredients in a saucepan over a medium heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
