Sylt Pickling Liquor

Zing for Drinks and Dinner.

SyltWell, dear reader, this was always going to be a rather different review. It’s not a drink, but it could be and it’s not lunch or dinner, but it needs to be. Sylt Pickling Liquor is ready to use and there is a version for every taste, application and occasion.

Sylt was founded in 2021 by friends and former colleagues Ash Ringhus and Temi Olugbenga. They loved pickles but not the time it took to produce a well-flavoured pickling liquor. Rather than simply creating more of the regular off-the-shelf pickles, they wanted to fire people with the exciting possibilities of making pickles at home with less work and plenty of options. Thus, the Sylt Pickling Liquor range was born.

I am impressed. The food writer side of me enjoys the instant and zesty gratification of producing delicious and crunchy vegetables in little time and with even less effort. Summer offers a bounty of crisp produce and Sylt Pickling Liquor has a selection of different flavour profiles to suit any combination for any cuisine. Varieties include Spiced Apple with Cinnamon and Cardamom, Juniper and Sage Pickling Vinegar, and Dill and Mustard.

The mixologist part of me is enjoying Scotch Bonnet and Lemon pickling liquor. It packs a punch and has my cocktail recipe-developing mind racing with possibilities. I don’t think I want to be without a bottle or two on the shelf of my home bar. It’s perfect for those ‘devilled’ cocktails to be slowly sipped and savoured.

Sylt Pickling Liquors make pickling simple and fast. They deserve to be successful. I ordered more before this review was even published.
