Rosetta Stone Language Learning

Fun and Comprehensive.

I am a lady of a ‘certain age’ and I am also a travel writer. My work has taken me around the world, and I try to learn just a few words in other languages in order to be polite. Rosetta Stone has offered me the chance to learn a good amount of almost any language in a short time.

There are 25 languages available and using the research-backed Rosetta Stone method the process of learning is comfortable and supportive, even for those who are new to language learning.

I have dabbled in other online courses but have given up after a module or two. We each have different learning preferences but Rosetta Stone works for me. I can work at my pace using an array of support tools and I can tailor the material to my needs so I can get the basics and the specifics for my life ticked off.

Rosetta Stone has 500+ Flashcard sets for each of the 25 languages. The cards can be customised, so you get exactly what you need to feel confident, talking about your work or interests or, just as important, asking for assistance.

Vocabulary lists show the English word on one side and the word in your target language on the other. Click on a flashcard to flip it over, and use the arrows to move between flashcards. It’s simple, and a fun exercise.

Sapphire Studio will rewrite text

Rosetta Stone is a good resource for business, and for broader education too. If you come across a text that is more advanced than your current skill level, the Adapted Text tool can help adjust that text to use words with which someone at your level will be more familiar. You just paste in the text you want to read (either in the translated English or your target language) and select your language level from Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced. Sapphire Studio will rewrite the text in your target language at your selected skill level by adjusting components like vocabulary, grammar, and sentence structure.

Writing emails in a new language can be daunting. Rosetta Stone can draft an email in your target language and explain key phrases to help you learn to write your own emails and other messages with confidence. All you need to enter is who the email is for and the topic. You will receive an email draft in your target language with explanations of key phrases used, and an English translation. It is helpful to learn not only the appropriate words but also the nuances and sensitivities of online communication in your chosen language. It’s so easy to be misunderstood via email, even in English, so it really is a bonus to have a cultural and linguistic assistant at your fingertips.

Rosetta Stone is a winner. It’s a course that is giving me positive results. I am finding it easier to maintain learning momentum and I am becoming more confident. I now have the app on my phone, too. No, language learning isn’t an overnight process. The student still needs to put in the work, but Rosetta Stone offers a real prospect of success. I am enjoying the journey.
