Dunnet Bay Distillers, located on the Scottish coast, has released its new Rock Rose Gin Citrus Coastal Edition in one of the company’s unique, eco-friendly pouches.

The pouches, which are fully recyclable, are designed to refill the iconic ceramic Rock Rose Gin bottle. When empty, the packaging can be returned, via FREEPOST, to the maker with no stamp or envelope needed. Dunnet Bay Distillers, the UK mainland’s most northerly distillery, is passionate about protecting the pristine marine and coastal environment where the business is based. The spirits are created using locally foraged and home-grown botanicals.

Rock Rose Citrus Coastal Edition launch earlier this year – initially in the bottle format – priced at £37.50. The pouch costs just £30. P&P is extra. To buy visit https://www.dunnetbaydistillers.co.uk/shop/rock-rose-gin-citrus-coastal-edition-refill-pouch/

Created in partnership with the Craft Gin Club

It is described as ‘flavourful and fresh, zesty and with a bracing sea air finish’. This is a 41.5% ABV gin which has been distilled in a traditional vapour infusion still. It was created in partnership with the Craft Gin Club for their members in 2020 and was so well received by these gin aficionados that the company is now offering it to a wider audience of gin lovers.

Martin Murray, the co-founder and Master Distiller of Dunnet Bay Distillery, said: “We are delighted to have created our Rock Rose Citrus Coastal Edition Gin, our most experimental variant to date. It is inspired by the local Caithness coastline, in the most northerly part of mainland Scotland where the air is clean and fresh. The idea is that, when tasting this expression, if you close your eyes, you can picture being on a beach on one of the most beautiful stretches of the UK shoreline. Now we are delighted to offer this gin in one of our sustainable pouches”

The gin is distilled using kelp, locally foraged by Shore Seaweed, which delivers an unusual umami note to the gin. The Coastal Edition’s rounded profile is enhanced by the addition of lemon verbena picked from the Distillery’s own garden. The lemon verbena is added to the distillation for the aromatic, bright citrus tang it brings to this rather delectable spirit. The taste profile is completed with a touch of liquorice salt, added after distillation, sourced from the Hebridean Mustard Company, to heighten the intriguing coastal tang.

The result is a soft and sweet gin with a delicious, citrussy, salted edge and a fresh finish that is so smooth it can be enjoyed neat or poured over ice. If serving as a G&T, the recommended garnishes for this signature serve are goji berries and a slice of grapefruit or grapefruit zest

Other Rock Rose Gins are also available in the sustainable pouches which members of the company’s Refill Rewards Club enjoy as one of their regular home delivery packages, along with the treats and garnishes that are part of the offering.
