Chilean wine from Tesco.
Riesling is a classic white wine and traditionally known to come from Germany; but in fact the grapes for this iconic wine are cultivated in many vineyards across the world. Cono Sur Vineyards and Winery was founded in 1993 in Chile, and this Reserva Especial Riesling is a great expression of their craft.
Chile has more than 4,000 kms of coast and the longest mountain range of the world. Between the coast and the Andes one finds Cono Sur, which is one of the world’s southernmost winegrowing regions. The Bío Bío Valley has some of the lowest temperatures during the grape ripening process and is one of the few places in Chile where irrigation is not necessary. Many farmers and vine growers around the world wish they had that advantage.
This wine has an aromatic intensity, with floral notes on the palate along with a little citrus and stone fruit. Hints of minerals on the finish. It is crisp with well-balanced acidity, and refreshing when served well chilled. This would be perfect paired with fish, salads and white meats. There is a practical screw cap making this the wine of choice for those spring picnics.
