Pivot Bar and Bistro for a Sunday Feast

A Room with a View.

Covent GardenCovent Garden is a wonder of architecture, history and eclectic retail opportunities. Throw in a juggler or two and you have the perfect tourist attraction. Pivot Bar and Bistro, on the other hand, appeals to tourists and locals alike. Enjoy the Sunday Ultimate Sharing Roast which offers a traditional meal of generous proportions.

Ranged across two floors of 3 Henrietta Street, Pivot is a modern British restaurant. The entrance is easy to miss, being a front door nestled between other restaurants. The ground floor houses the bar and a café which would make the perfect pit stop away from the frenetic energy of Covent Garden.

The restaurant is on the first floor and boasts superb views of the piazza. It’s a modern interpretation of a British bistro with vibrant orange walls festooned with posters reminding one of the ’70s music scene.  Particularly fascinating for those of us who were there at the time. Yes, dear reader, I am that old! It’s a cosy spot and perfect for casual dining at any time of day.

Options for every taste and appetite

Pivot Sunday LunchChef Mark Greenaway has been voted No.160 among the top 300 chefs in the world. He evidently has a focus on British classics and for many of us that includes a traditional roast dinner. Pivot presents options for every taste and appetite, but for sheer impact grab a few friends and order the Ultimate Sharing Roast. That could be more accurately listed as the Ultimate Sharing Roasts for Four. The platter offers lamb, beef and chicken, so everybody gets a taste of their favourites.

The Ultimate Sharing Roast must surely be the spread of choice for small groups. It includes four beef strip-loin slices, a lamb shank or ham hock, half a chicken, and four pigs in blankets. There are unlimited servings of roast potatoes which were golden and amazingly crispy. Hispi cabbage was so delicious – and that is not a word I use often regarding cabbage. This was a winner. Creamy cauliflower cheese was rich and flavourful. The glazed carrots added colour and were perfectly cooked. Then there is gravy and the essential Yorkshire puddings.

The price was very reasonable for such a feast at this popular spot. The Ultimate Sharing Roast is £79 for the whole group, and one could add Unlimited Bloody Mary for £30pp. It makes a memorable spread, so ideal for a fun celebration! Sunday Roast is served from 12pm – 9pm.
