Pesquera Millenium Gran Reserva
Ribera del Duero, 2019.
It will soon be the festive season and a cheap bottle of plonk, though perfectly acceptable for the rest of the year, falls short just now. Pesquera Millenium Gran Reserva, Ribera del Duero, 2019 from Spain is a worthy choice for your celebration table.
Pesquera Millenium Gran Reserva is a red wine made only from outstanding vintages – and 2019 was such a year. The wine comes from Viña Alta, the oldest estate planted by Alejandroor Fernández in Pesquera de Duero in the late 1960s. This wine is the only one that the winery ages in French oak barrels.
Viña Alta is renowned for its low yield and exceptional quality of grapes. Tempranillo is a red grape variety grown throughout Spain and Portugal, and here it’s used to great advantage. Oak and Tempranillo is a typical combination for aging the most sought-after wines. This adds distinctive notes of leather and tobacco.
Pesquera Millenium Gran Reserva, Ribera del Duero, Spain, 2019 offers notes of warming spice, blackberries and plums. The tannins and acid are bold and work perfectly when paired with roasts, and the dark meat of your Christmas turkey.
