Léon Perdigal Lirac 2021

Intense Red.

Lirac Leon PerdigalLirac is found in the southern Rhône valley. It is located on the opposite side of the Rhône River to Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Wines here represent better value for money since the region is not as well-known as its more celebrated neighbour. Léon Perdigal Lirac is a good example of wines from this region.

The weather here is ideal for grape production. Sand, clay and limestone allows for the cultivation of several grape varieties. . Léon Perdigal Lirac is made from Grenache, Syrah, and the less well known Mourvedre, known as Mataro in Australia. This is called the “GSM” blend and it’s a classic. The Mourvedre grape adds the intensity for which Lirac reds are known.

Tasting Notes.

Deep red in colour with plenty of blackberry and red plums on the palate. There are distinct tannins and balanced acids, making this the perfect pairing for beef and game meats. A robust red with a pleasingly long finish, which could be put down for a year or so.
