Grand vin de Bordeaux.
‘A nice bottle of Bordeaux will impress but it’s a shame it will cost an arm and a leg!’ Au contraire, mes amis! Tesco have a great selection of these red wines and you won’t need a mortgage to enjoy them. Grand Palais Médoc is surprisingly good value for money!
“There can be a lot of misconceptions and preconceived ideas about Bordeaux wines,” says Tesco wine expert Charlotte Lemoine, “but there are a lot of amazing, affordable and refreshing options on Tesco shelves, as well.”
This rich Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot (a variety of red wine grape used in good Bordeaux wines) offers classic expressions of this style of wine. There are plenty of blackcurrant, blackberry and oak flavours that are typical of many of the wines from the left bank of the Garonne river estuary, which is celebrated for its quality production.
Grand Palais Médoc 2019 is the perfect choice when seeking a pairing for those comforting cooler-weather dishes. It marries well with hearty red meat dishes and steaks as well as spiced Asian foods. Try with your favourite strong cheeseboard items. It’s rather good with roast lamb, as its pronounced tannins and acidity balance that delicious fat.
