2020 Chablis.
The vineyards of Chablis are among the oldest and most celebrated in France. Classic Chablis white wines, made from the Chardonnay grape, are appreciated worldwide. The mineral-laced character of the wine is a product of the soil that contains high proportions of mineral-rich clay and marine fossils. The Chablis region is found between Paris and Beaune where the climate is pleasantly cool, which is ideal for dry, white wines with high acidity.
The main Chablis Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée was designated at the start of 1938. All the vineyards in the region are covered by four appellations with different classifications. These note the differing compositions of soil and geography. AOC Chablis is the largest appellation.
Tesco Finest is a collection of quality wines at very reasonable prices. This one is perfectly timed for the summer. The wine pairs well with sharp citrus desserts and acidic tomatoes; the perfect glass for grilled fatty fish and meats. I really enjoy this with roast lamb.
Tesco Finest 2020 Chablis can be stored in a cool dark place for a year or so. Serve chilled with food or even as a refreshing spritzer before an alfresco lunch on a warm summer day.
