Yondu Plant-based Umami

Just a dash will make a difference

YonduWe are staying safe at home wherever possible. Restaurants are closed, so that enforced exile has introduced many to their kitchen – that extra room that came with the house. Yondu is a neat little bottle which makes delicious savoury dishes easy to accomplish. It is a product of Sempio which is a family-run South Korean company and was the first in Korea to focus on this plant-based fermented stock.

Bring your dishes to life

Yondu packs a flavourful punch. Just a little goes a long way. It is brimming with umami, which actually enhances one’s other ingredients. It’s a liquid made by slowly fermenting and simmering vegetables, resulting in a sauce which will bring your dishes to life while balancing the overall taste. It improves so many foods without adding extra salt, oil or butter.

Yondu has become a dependable aid in professional and domestic kitchens across the globe. Non-GMO and organic soybeans are slowly fermented in three stages to bring out their savoury flavours. The resulting stock is blended with the concentrated broth of eight different vegetables to balance and add depth.

Just a dash of Yondu will make a difference to your cooking. Simply use it just like salt while cooking, and season to taste! For instance, to 2 cups of sauteed vegetables just add 1 tsp of Yondu. For 2 cups of cooked pasta, grain or beans add 1 tsp of Yondu.

Ingredients

Organic soybean essence (organic soybean, water, salt), vegetable stock (onion, white radish, leek, cabbage, carrot, shiitake, ginger, garlic), yeast extract.

Yondu is well worth trying. It adds that savoury deliciousness that one would usually get from adding salt. This is a healthy and flavourful alternative.
