PEP Kitchen delivers hearty meals

PEP moussakaJoe and Ben of PEP Kitchen have introduced me to some of the very best food, and meals that are frozen, and conveniently delivered to your very door. Note that VEGAN isn’t right up there in the first sentence, the reason being that it’s all about the quality of the food and that is the highest priority for this meat eater.

There, I have said it. I do eat meat a couple of times each week, but I choose to enjoy vegetarian and even vegan foods just for taste. Joe and Ben, the company founders, offer dishes that are just as delicious and satisfying as any that a meat eater would want.

Vegans and vegetarians are often short-changed and it’s expected that they will obviously be happy with salads and perhaps a little ancient grain. That is OK from time to time, but how about dinner – a nice hot comforting meal of great tasty food and one that all the family will appreciate?

Flavourful and perfect

To be honest, I wasn’t expecting a lot, but I was so very positively surprised. Gunpowder Roots – Indian style root vegetables with coconut dhal and rice – was flavourful and perfect for a cool evening. A good portion of food that needed nothing as a side apart from a glass of wine.

Mungbean Moussaka was a real winner. I expected something a little grassy and very noble but in reality this was a savoury and moreish dish with all the flavour of the Greek original. This is a must-try from the seven options offered by PEP Kitchen.

Nothing is skimped or cut. The dishes are appealing and even meat eaters won’t miss beef, lamb or pork bits. PEP Kitchen turns out meals for everybody and, oh, by the way, no animals were hurt in the production of your supper. The recipes are thoughtful and imaginative and the two I have tried were a delight!
