Old Pulteney 12-Year-Old Whisky
Hints of the Sea.
Old Pulteney 12-Year-Old is a classic Highland malt that draws inspiration from the distillery’s surrounding coast. It is called ‘the maritime malt’ due to its location and its town’s long fishing industry heritage.
This single malt has a surprisingly low 40% ABV, but it is no worse for that. It has been matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels to give some warming spice and sweetness. Notes of both peat smoke and the sea are here as well. It’s the perfect sip for these cooler winter nights. It’s not too heavy but gives a pleasing mouth-filling experience.
Tasting Notes:
Appearance: Rich amber
Nose: lemon, melon, spice
Taste: creamy, black pepper, sea salt, orchard fruits
Finish: Medium in length, remaining sweet. A smooth single malt.
Old Pulteney 12-Year-Old is a great all-rounder. Its 40% ABV makes this the whisky of choice for those looking for character, flavour but without the oft-encountered sensation of overpowering alcohol. It’s a winner!
