The Sri Lanka High Commission in London has recently presented an exhibition called ‘One Island. Many Lenses’, the Sri Lanka Wildlife Photography Exhibition 2026.

Hosted by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and the Sri Lanka High Commission, the evening offered inspiring talks from HE Nimal Senadeera, Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to the UK, Gehan De Silva Wijeyeratne, renowned field naturalist, photographer and wildlife author, and Sarangi Thilakasena, Deputy Director of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau.

The exhibition showcased a stunning collection of wildlife photography celebrating Sri Lanka’s extraordinary biodiversity, rich natural heritage and the incredible talent of its photographers and naturalists. This truly is an exceptional island.

Sri Lanka is the only place where you can find both the largest animal on Earth, that’s the Asian elephant, and largest mammal in the sea, and that is the huge blue whale. Any lover of photography will be thrilled to have the opportunity to take some iconic and beautiful shots of these rare creatures.

But the island is teaming with wildlife, birds and insects of more modest proportions too. Sri Lanka has National Parks which act as perfect sanctuaries for its wildlife. One can find colour in the guise of the Sri Lankan Junglefowl, the country’s national bird. The water buffalo is both wild and domesticated in Sri Lanka. Leopards are here and any photographer would love to have the chance of that perfect image. Sri Lanka is home to 227 species of birds.

Sri Lanka offers so much. Culture, landscape, food and the unmissable wildlife. Stunning.
