itsu Has a Taste for Christmas

A parcel of festive flavours

itzu christmasIt’s party time – or soon will be. We might not be hosting a dozen for Christmas dinner, but many of us will be planning drinks parties with perhaps a little fizz. We need some canapés to go with that smart wine, but we also want something a little different.

Catering at this time of the year can be overwhelming, especially when organising that ‘simple’ get-together. You thought it was going to be less bother than a full meal but it’s all those little plates, isn’t it? Itsu can help with a bag of gyoza that have been designed with Christmas in mind.

Itsu Christmas Gyoza are quick to prepare. One could pan-fry them in Japanese fashion or boil them. Both these methods work fine, but you have guests and you don’t want to be standing in the kitchen and missing the fun. Steam them instead. You won’t have to stand and watch them and they won’t come to any harm if they cook for a little longer than the recommended 8 minutes.

The filling for these dumplings is bacon, turkey, cranberry and sage. They have a mild flavour so would make a lovely canapé choice for a crowd. One could serve these with a soy sauce-based dip but they would be just as delicious with a little cranberry sauce mixed with a little teriyaki sauce to give a dipping consistency.
