Ideal Outdoor Creations for Staycations

Jack gardenThe team at Jack Dunckley know how important it is to get away on a relaxing holiday and we all probably need this now more than ever! But with the stress of face masks, sanitisers and the possibility of quarantines after our holidays, for many of us, this will not look likely this year.

A staycation, luxury resort at home can be within easy reach with some creativity and expert planning.  If it is a Mediterranean ambience that is desired, planting of Cypress and Olive trees, together with herbs such as Rosemary and blooms like Agapanthus are a great starting point.  When these plants are combined with creative use of gravel pathways, intricate brickwork and large terracotta pots, the picture is complete.

If one is dreaming of Thailand, Sri Lanka or India, then tropical planting and wooden features are the way to go.  A water feature is also a great way to transport us to our island paradise.

A contrast in texture and colour is important when it comes to the plants chosen, this will bring a wild yet natural feel to the garden design.  Combining Palms with various Grass types is a must and if blooms are to be displayed, make them big and bright!

For a European staycation garden, focus on pretty flowers and bespoke seating areas such as the customer built summer house below, overlooking the beautiful pond. The serene whites and purples of the Agapanthus and Lavender also bring about a feeling of calm and serenity.

You know what they say ‘home is where the heart is’ and it can be where your holiday is too!
