Hayman’s Sloe Gin – review

Haymans Sloe GinHayman’s Sloe Gin is a classic with the fresh fruitiness of the autumn. This plum-coloured gin displays great balance on the palate with gin at its centre, but being neither too sweet nor too tart. The berries are macerated for several months to allow the characteristic flavours to infuse.

This well-crafted Sloe Gin is perfect for sipping while one toasts one’s toes by a log fire after a frosty winter ramble, but one can enjoy Hayman’s Sloe Gin all year long. Add some to a blackberry sauce to serve alongside venison or even roast pork. Spring brings lamb dishes which would be enhanced by a little redcurrant jelly laced with sloe gin. Summer is the time for al fresco cocktails – just a little sloe gin topped off with prosecco, and perhaps garnished with a maraschino cherry, would be the perfect pre-dinner glass.
