El Rayo Plata Tequila

El RoyoTequila, like all other spirits, comes in different styles and qualities. El Rayo Plata Tequila offers both classic high-end tequila quality and distinct character, and surprisingly it has been specially crafted to go with tonic.

Made with 100% blue Weber agave, El Rayo Plata Tequila is found in a unique bottle with a label showing rays of light. El Rayo takes its name from Mexican folklore: the story is of a great bolt of lightning – El Rayo – striking the blue agave plants in the hills near Tequila. When a local farmer saw the glow in the distance, he went to investigate and discovered the cooked agave plant, and that’s when the first tequila was made. The label has hints of those simple art deco sunburst designs, giving the bottle great shelf appeal.

Clean flavour

Plata means a silver or white spirit. This is legally defined as an unaged style of tequila, bottled or stored immediately after distillation, or aged less than two months in stainless steel or neutral oak barrels. This allows for a clean flavour quite unlike most of the popular brands of tequila one might have tried. They are often amber in colour. You know the ones. They are perfect in a Margarita, but El Rayo Plata Tequila needs just a chilled tonic.

El Rayo Plata Tequila presents distinct notes of black pepper followed by white blossoms for a degree of smoothness, and finally a hint of grass.  It has been twice distilled in traditional copper stills and hand-bottled at the El Rayo distillery.

This is a smooth tequila and its peppery personality partners well with one’s favourite classic tonic water. Add a slice of lime for zesty freshness and sip over ice with a salty Mexican snack.
