DIY Beeswax Wraps

The Natural Food Protector.

beeswax wrapsWe are all thinking more about waste these days. We think we can’t do much alone, but every little bit helps. Every little piece of cling film saved is less in landfill.

Kikkerland offers these kits for making one’s own waxed fabric for wrapping all kinds of food. The natural beeswax makes these fabric sheets mouldable around all shapes of food. They are non-slip and tacky to create a good seal. They are reusable, antimicrobial and sustainable. They are an attractive alternative to single-use plastic in the kitchen. They are also totally compostable at the end of their life.

Each kit includes a 2oz beeswax block, 3 cotton squares, 3 pieces of parchment paper, and 1 brush. Everything is here to enable one to take another step towards a less-waste life. This would be a great project with which to involve kids. They might not want to melt the wax, but painting on the fabric would be fun.
