Best of British from 44 Foods

Quality in a Box.

44 foods steakI have enjoyed 44 Foods packages a couple of times now and I can attest to the quality of both their service and their goods. There are plenty of food box delivery companies around but this one will keep me returning when I am pressed for time or am looking for something a cut above my usual groceries.

44 Foods produce is not overpriced, but they don’t do next-day delivery. They have adopted a four-day lead time which gives their partners the opportunity to pick the freshest produce, thus ensuring maximum shelf life. More importantly it eliminates the need for warehouses full of soon-to-be-wasted foods.

This company offers plenty of choice, and for added convenience they also suggest Food Bundles for a bit of practical inspiration. 44 Foods also allows their shoppers to create their own Bundles for even more flexibility.

Best steak I have cooked in a while

44 FoodsWe chose the British Producers Taster Box, which gave a good overview of the standard one can expect from 44 Foods. This taster box brings together British seasonal essentials from UK producers, including high-quality beef from Buttercross Farm Foods and bacon, JW Galloway presented Scottish Sirloin, delicious 6 Seed Malted bread from Hobbs House, fresh piccolo tomatoes from Mudwalls, along with fish from Stevenson, Cotswold butter, Tims Dairy yoghurt and eggs from Cacklebean.

The box of goodies was perfectly packaged with still-frozen chill packs, insulation and cushioning for every product. It was a well-balanced selection, allowing this food-loving duo to enjoy a Megrim starter (Cornish Sole and great value for money here) garnished with those 44 Foods cherry tomatoes and some home-grown beans. Our main course was sirloin steak, and it was fresh and tender – the best steak I have cooked in a while. Nothing needed there apart from some homemade chips and peppercorn sauce.

The following morning continued with more from 44 Foods. We tucked into eggs with creamy and deep yellow yolks on crisp toast with bacon on the side, followed by a tub of fruit yogurt. We still have eggs, bacon, bread, butter and yoghurt to last another couple of days. A 44 Foods box which keeps on giving comforting plates of quality! 44 Foods never disappoint.
