This was the start of Suntory. The second distillery, Hakushu, was born in 1973 and is one of the highest distilleries in the world, set on Mt. Kaikomagatake in the Japanese Southern Alps. It takes advantage of a unique microclimate and soft pure water filtered through the granite rocks. The third distillery was founded in 1972 by Keizo Saji on the Chita Peninsula. He was Suntory’s second Master Blender and had a focus on high-quality grain whisky.

Toki Black includes peated malt for a distinct smokiness from Hakushu, with the other whiskies coming from Yamazaki and Chita distilleries. This limited edition has a 43% ABV. The bottle is distinctive and angular as with its sister, the regular Toki from the House of Suntory. The limited-edition Toki Black Blended Japanese Whisky sports a black label with the tactile luxury of Japanese paper. The presentation raises expectations of a polished whisky within. It doesn’t disappoint.

This is a richer and more complex expression of the original Toki with a slightly darker colour. It is the perfect sip when enjoying a quiet moment alone or as the base for a classic Highball, Japan’s most popular cocktail. It will be a welcome gift for any whisky lover who will appreciate its delicious profile.

Blended Japanese Whisky.
