She has shared her knowledge of whisky maturation, demonstrating her knowledge of the role of different species of oak, previous cask use and excellence of the whiskies themselves.<\/p>\n<p>Glengoyne Distillery is part of the family firm, Ian Macleod Distillers. A world-renowned Scottish Highland distillery, it is located near Loch Lomond, close to Glasgow and the brand is known for its \u2018unhurried\u2019 approach as one of the slowest distilled whiskies in Scotland. The whisky has an appealing fruity character unlike any other. Importantly, this is a highly sustainable distillery boasting 100% green energy use and sustainable packaging as well as environmentally friendly wetlands \u2013 an aspect of the brand which greatly appeals to many Swedish consumers.<\/p>\n<p>To mark this award, 10 representatives of the Swedish Whisky Federation, including its President, Susan Stenstr\u00f6m, visited Glengoyne Distillery on 7 November 2025. The SWA group also attended the Glasgow Whisky Festival. At Glengoyne, the guests tasted the recently released Glengoyne Mizunara expression as well as other rare Glengoyne expressions, White Oak 24-Year-Old and 25-Year-Old Sherry Oak, from Glengoyne\u2019s Sherry Oak Collection. They also tasted Glengoyne\u2019s sister whisky, 30-Year-Old Rosebank, an acclaimed legacy series whisky created in nearby Falkirk.<\/p>\n<p>Valerie Marsh was described by one of the judges as an \u201cinternationally important icon in our whisky community\u201d. The Federation\u2019s website says: \u201cValerie Marsh has played a key role in building bridges between the Scotch whisky industry and Swedish whisky clubs\u2026 With her knowledge of the potential of barrels, ability to analyse maturity and her feeling for creating vibrant networks around each barrel, she has created a unique whisky experience for hundreds of Swedish enthusiasts. Valerie Marsh is a role model in the industry \u2013 professional, passionate and genuinely committed. Her work deserves a clear place in SWF&#8217;s Hall of Fame.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The only other individuals to receive this recognition outside Sweden are Frank McHardy and Michael Urquhart.\u00a0Valerie Marsh was presented with a beautiful, hand-crafted copper and glass trophy. Valerie Marsh said: \u201cIt is a joy and honour to be recognised in this way and I thank the Whisky Federation of Sweden.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI greatly enjoy my contact with the Swedish clubs and have worked with many of the clubs and individuals for decades. I also have the privilege of dealing with customers across all of Europe, North America, and Dubai. I believe my enthusiasm for and knowledge of the whisky sector is appreciated by those I work with in Sweden, with whom I share much in common because of our mutual interest in the intriguing, magical entity that is whisky. This shared interest binds us and customers know I always have their best interests at heart when reviewing samples and giving feedback. I am very open and I think people appreciate that and value our personal relationships built over many years.\u201d\u00a0Valerie Marsh is often invited to lead masterclasses and always ensures they are different, fun and entertaining. A top whisky educator, tickets for her sessions are often the first to sell out.<\/p>\n<p>Katy Muggeridge, Brand Director for Glengoyne, said: \u201cWe are so proud of Valerie Marsh. Her whisky knowledge is second to none and this is a well-deserved accolade that was a surprise to her but not to those of us who work with Valerie. We value our customers in Sweden who have a great understanding and appreciation of Glengoyne\u2019s whiskies. Whisky aficionados in Sweden often appreciate whiskies with depth and character, favouring darker whiskies with oaky, richer flavour notes and Glengoyne\u2019s character is of special appeal. In addition, Glengoyne\u2019s environmentally sustainable approach to whisky creation, stewardship of the land and packaging materials appeals to many Swedish consumers who are often very environmentally conscious.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In Sweden, single cask, limited edition whiskies often sell out almost instantly after release and Glengoyne 12-Year-Old, 15-Year-Old and 21-Year-Old are also very popular.<\/p>\n<p>For those visiting Scotland, Glengoyne offers award-winning tours and tastings that mean this distillery regularly tops lists as one of Scotland\u2019s best whisky destinations.
