In 1969 he found a site by the Wakefield River in South Australia’s Clare Valley. His Promised Land wines are produced from vineyards across South Australia’s regions such as Padthaway and Limestone Coast. Wakefield Shiraz Cabernet is part of that popular range of wines.

Shiraz Cabernet is Australia’s celebrated red wine blend. The Shiraz grape perhaps originated near the city of Shiraz, the former capital of the ancient Persian Empire. In more modern times it was cultivated in France and was taken to Australia and many other wine-producing countries. Wakefield Promised Land Shiraz Cabernet 2023 is a fine expression of this cuvée.

This wine is a blend of Shiraz 63% and Cabernet Sauvignon 37%. It is bold but soft and smooth with balanced tannins, medium dry with pleasing acid.

An exceptionally well-balanced, medium-bodied wine with rich black fruit notes. There are rounded hints of oak and black pepper adding a little spice. It has a medium finish. Serve between 16 and 18 degrees and pair with your favourite steak or a traditional cheese board of medium strength cheeses.

Visit Tesco here

Promised Land 2023.
