Winters are colder than you might expect with light night frosts but still with delightful temperatures during the day. Those are the perfect conditions for growing vines. Provence is the only major wine region in the world to specialise in rosé, dedicating 89% of its production to that style. Coteaux Varois en Provence creates wines with hints of fresh fruit and florals, thanks to its inland location and deeper soils.

Château Bellini Rosé 2024 presents a classic marriage of Shiraz (Syrah) and Cinsault. Wines from this pairing are most common in southern France. This wine has a pale peach colour which is delightful for summer quaffing. It is delicate, with floral and citrus notes on the nose. The palate reveals plenty of red summer berries with hints of herbs and more citrus. The finish is long, making this a good choice for enjoying with white meats, shellfish and salads.

Château Bellini Rosé 2024 punches above its very reasonable price point. It will enhance a casual picnic but can equally be enjoyed before and with a smart al fresco dinner party.

Summer in a glass.
