It is a groundbreaking new winery on an old site. In the last ten years, both the vineyard and winery have been completely and exhaustively modernised in order to have full quality control over the production process. Cramele Recas is now the largest premium producer in Romania, with half of the wines being sold for home consumption and the other half sold all around the world.

Isn’t actually made of oranges

Orange Natural Wine is far from a Halloween-appropriate colour. It might be best described as yellow with a suspicion of orange and, no, it isn’t actually made of oranges. It is made of a blend of Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscat Ottonel which is a grape popular in Romania, Austria, Hungary, Serbia, and Alsace. It has an ABV of 12.5%, is suitable for vegetarians and vegans and it is organic.

With flavours of pear, peach and vanilla, it’s a delicious option for those who prefer a lighter wine pairing with meats such as turkey for the festive season. It’s a perfect marriage with cheese boards (hard and semi-hard cheeses or cheeses with external mould such as Brie and Camembert). Tropical desserts with vanilla, peaches, mango, pineapple will also nicely complement and resonate with the wine aromas.

Available from Adnams, RRP £10.99 and Ocado, RRP £12.00

Cramele Recas in Romania.
