They wanted to distil something a little different without the over-sweet profile of most traditional rums.

Their first presentation in their now-established range was a classic all-natural toasted coconut rum, made with premium rums from Guatemala and the Caribbean with pure, sustainably sourced coconut water giving a lighter spirit than most rums available in shops and online. The bottle is slender and sports an attractive blue, white and gold label with a stylised moon mandala as a salute: Aluna means ‘to the moon’.

The base Guatemalan rum is made with first-press sugar cane fermented with a unique yeast from the pineapple plant. This creates an exotic yet light and smooth rum with a delicate sweet edge. Added to this are selected young Caribbean rums to give that familiar richness without the layers of syrup.

Aluna Coconut Rum is a summer winner. It makes the perfect sipping rum simply served over ice. The coconut flavour shines through without the sugary mouth-coating element present in many other rums. It works when entertaining a crowd on hot (we hope) evenings. It’s lovely with pineapple juice, as one would expect, and a little sparkling water to create a long and refreshing libation. Garnish with a cube of fruit on a skewer and a little mint. Try as a Daiquiri for a classic cocktail with a twist.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: clear, water white
Nose: delicate blossoms and fresh coconut
Palate: light rum, toasted coconut, vanilla and a hint of brown sugar
Finish: medium with a suspicion of oak

ABV 37.5%

Suitable for Vegans and Gluten Free.

Learn more about Aluna Coconut Rum here

The Tropics in a glass.
