It’s striking in every regard and well worth seeking out now it’s in the UK.

This gin has shelf appeal, even if that display was in the highest-end spirits shop or even a crystal-glass showroom. Granted, this decanter isn’t cut glass, but it has great stage presence and would look as pretty as a picture on one’s drinks trolley.

Expectations of the beverage within

Paul has a passion for vintage glass of the 1950s and 60s and this exquisite presentation fits right in with that style. It’s a gift-quality bottle which raises expectations of the beverage within. But would that extravagant packaging be the only redeeming element of this gin, or would the contents measure up? They did.

Artingstall isn’t the name of the producer. That’s Minhas Micro Distillery in America’s Mid-West. It’s actually the maiden name of Paul’s mother. He is obviously proud of both his mum and his gin. It takes advantage of eleven botanicals to present a balanced and elegant spirit. It has won a host of awards on both sides of the Pond including Silver Medal at London Spirits Competition and Bronze Medal at San Francisco World Spirits Competition. It was also awarded a double gold medal at last year’s Spirits Competition during the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America annual convention. Not too shabby, I would say!

Tasting Notes

Appearance: clear and water-white

Nose: Floral, citrus and coriander

Palate: smooth, refreshing, floral notes, luscious ripe berries and juniper. A sweet and pleasing profile

Finish: medium with lingering citrus and warming spice

Artingstall’s Brilliant London Dry Gin truly is an excellent spirit. Yes, it makes a delightful G&T, but my advice would be to try it simply served over ice in your best cut-glass tumbler.

Artingstall’s Brilliant London Dry Gin is available online and from fine bars. Learn more here

Designed by Paul Feig.
