This comes from the B\u00edo B\u00edo Valley in the southern part of Chile. The climate is cool and similar to that found in the Mediterranean. The soil is poor and clay-based and low in fertility, so ideal for vines.<\/p>\n<p>The Malbec grape came originally from the Cahors region of France but the vines there were mostly lost in the 1950s after extreme frosts. This French transplant is becoming one of Argentina\u2019s and Chile\u2019s most delicious exports, and the future is looking bright.<\/p>\n<p>This Co-op 2016 Bio Bio Malbec has a rich blackcurrant hue, and that theme continues on the palate. \u00a0There are hints of blackberries and even a little vanilla. The wine offers well-balanced levels of alcohol, tannins and acidity, and delicate oak. A luscious, juicy wine.<\/p>\n<p>This is an outstanding wine for such a reasonable price. It stands up well to beef and even robust meaty sauces.
