Qatar Airways is the Business – travel review

Qatar Airways seatNow, let us not pretend that this is an everyday event. Travelling Business Class is a privilege and it’s a lovely experience, and especially if it’s Business Class with Qatar Airways. They are arguably one of the best carriers and it’s easy to see why they have gained that enviable and deserved reputation.

The spacious Business Class cabin sports individual cubicles providing private little nests for passengers. The privacy screens between the mid-plane seats are movable, allowing couples still to communicate during the flight. They are mini and well-appointed ‘rooms’ which one will be reluctant to leave on arrival at one’s destination.

Flat bed to allow for a good night’s sleep

There is a sizeable entertainment touch-screen that also has a hand-held control which is convenient for the game selections. The complementary headphones are superior quality and comfortable. A pillow and a warm duvet are provided, and the seat reclines to a flat bed to allow for a good night’s (or day’s) sleep. This is such a bonus on long-haul flights. There is plenty of room for personal in-flight items. There is a drawer for shoes, and a lidded cabinet holding those headphones. There is a universal power plug and a USB port, as well as a larger stowage compartment that is big enough to accommodate a laptop… and there is plenty of leg-room.

Qatar Airways breakfastOne is welcomed with either champagne or a soft drink and the epicurean delights keep on coming. On the morning flight from London to Doha there was breakfast on offer. I enjoyed the charcuterie platter and then the traditional Arab breakfast of foul medames (slow cooked fava beans, spices and oil) with flatbread and salad. But one could also order other meals during the flight. There could be a cheesy steak sandwich or crab mac and cheese; and for a lighter meal there is always afternoon tea! And talking of tea …there is Chai Karak which is the Qatari spiced tea with cardamom and saffron. This taste of the Middle East is a must-try.

There was a lounge area at the rear of the cabin and that offered snacks and wines along with soft drinks and exotic mocktails. A social space for chatting with one’s fellow flyers as well as the friendly and professional crew. Drinks can also be served at one’s seat.

Wi-Fi makes it easy to stay in touch

Qatar Airways champagneOne might feel inclined to stay connected while in-flight – tell the folks about the luxury you are at present enjoying. Yes, they will likely be jealous about the personal service, delicious food, cosy cubicle. The onboard wi-fi makes it easy to stay in touch with friends and family, or even to stay on top of your work. Once the aircraft is above 10,000 feet, you can use your portable electronic devices and send or access your email and browse the internet. *Available on selected aircraft.

I found everything in Business Class with Qatar Airways to be, well, first class in every way. It sets the benchmark very high. They are a pleasure to fly with.

Qatar Airways has won many awards including:
Airline with the Best Business Class – Business Traveller Middle East Awards 2017
Airline with the Best Cabin Crew – Business Traveller Middle East Awards 2017
